Global LT is minority owned and founded by an immigrant; celebrating diversity is at the heart of who we are.

How We Started

Hortensia Albertini founded Global LT as a home-based language training company in 1979 with only a phone and a filing cabinet.

More than three decades later, our company has grown into a leading global provider of language training, multicultural training, translation, and destination services, serving multinational businesses worldwide and providing services on every continent, excluding Antarctica. Global LT remains headquartered in Troy, Mich., U.S.A., where the company was founded, with entities in Brazil, China, Hong Kong, and the U.K.

Hortensia was born in Cuba, immigrating to the United States with her family in the early 1960s. As a young adult immigrant, she worked to support her family by teaching Spanish to non-native speakers. Hortensia soon discovered that she had a gift for providing language training to the business community and was inspired to found her own language training company, Langua Tutor. The company’s first client, Ford Motor Co., has maintained its relationship with it ever since.

Hortensia’s story is about realizing the American dream, followed by passing that dream to the next generation.
